As you can see from my profile photo - I am a lover of the local cow's kiss.
I believe that the food we eat should be experienced in this same
up close, involved, community way. I have been the buyer/manager of
our local coop's produce section for three years and have had the
privilege of working with local farmers and their seasonal gains. I've dusted the
earthy soil from beets and gently handled the most tender of neighborhood
greens so that they can be ready on the shelf for our customers. I'm
really interested in learning more about edible, indigenous plants
that are being rediscovered. I want to continue to educate myself and the
produce-eating public about important things like the potassium
content of the "Michigan banana", pawpaw! When I'm not thinking about economics
of eating locally I enjoy local music, art, picnics and libraries.
